Introduction
Hai, it is nice to see you here again! Thanks a lot for always being excited to see my blog. So, for today's post, I would like to review something about a new application on online learning. Maybe you could try after seeing my post. Who knows right? Then, as you know, I had started using this application maybe for the past 2 years but that only just enters my lecturer's padlet not more than that. Unfortunately, it becomes more interesting until make me use it for my own. Hehe, see 🙊 You know what I really recommend you to use it on your own because with the app I can make anything such as the to-do list, timeline, quiz, and also express your feeling there without anyone knowing.
What is Padlet?
Padlet is a digital canvas to create beautiful projects that are easy to share and collaborate on. It works like a piece of paper. For example, you can put whatever you like on it like drag in a video, record an interview, snap a selfie, write your own text posts or upload some documents. As you know, a padlet is born and will make it even more beautiful by choosing custom wallpapers and themes.
Padlet also is different from other blogging tools and inspiration boards because it is flexible. For example, you can create a grocery list, Venn diagram, a discussion board, a group meeting card, a portfolio, or a business plan. This is all in one app and can be used by teachers, students, professionals, and individuals of all ages.
Features
It has boards, documents, or web pages.
Benefit teaching
Technology has updated the way students learn in their homes and classroom. Now with the updated tools of technology students can understand complex things easily and quickly.
We all know that students love creativity. By using Padlet in the classroom teachers can motivate students to be creative. Students will also avail themselves of the opportunity to show their creative work with another class fellow by placing it on the Padlet wall. Students can also compete with each other by creating a wall and placing their creative ideas on it. In this way, students would not only enhance their creativity but also be appreciated by their teachers. Therefore, implement this tool of technology to boost up your creative ideas as well as impress other classmates & teachers.
By using it in the classroom, you can track current and upcoming class assignment topics and their due dates. In addition, you can design and place greeting cards with personal messages for your class-fellows & teachers. You will also get the opportunity to write and learn new vocab by writing new words daily on its wall. So, it could be said now that this technological tool would not only keep you updated but would also boost up your academic performance.
Benefit learning
Nowadays group study is a common activity among students of every level. Padlet is just like a corkboard that allows the students to share their ideas with each other. It will enable you to share your unique ideas in class or home group research sessions with your friends and class fellows. Moreover, you and your friends can share their researched ideas with everyone by placing them on the Padlet wall. Once every student uploads their great ideas on the wall, then you and your friends can discuss different ideas together.
Students can participate in class activities more effectively. This is because students can ask questions and discuss complex class topics with their teacher and other class fellows by placing them on the Padlet wall. Furthermore, you can also help other students by sharing your knowledge on critical areas of the topic.
Padlet works well with activities such as brainstorming, discussion, and project work. Students can learn through Padlet anytime anywhere with any internet-enabled devices such as a smartphone, tablet, and computer with an internet connection. There is no software needed to be downloaded to use Padlet. Students can then share their works on Facebook, Google+, e-mail, or even embed the URL into their blog. Besides that, using Padlet in learning English writing is an interesting method that gives benefits to both the students and lecturers. Public university students have performed better in English writing ever since they started using Padlet. This tool has also helped the silent (shy) students to express their thought as well.
Guidelines
Ready to get started with Padlet? We’re going to walk you through how to sign up for this free collaborative tool and resource, as well as how to use its many valuable features.
Signing up with Padlet is easy. Padlet’s home page directs you to where you can sign up for free, as well as where to install its Mac app if working on an iOS device. After selecting “Sign up for free,” Padlet allows you to instantly sign up via Apple, Google, or with Microsoft, or by entering your own separate email and password.
You are then given the option to select from a Basic or a Pro plan. A Basic plan is free but limits you when it comes to the amount of Padlets you can use and the amount of data you can upload at only 25MB per upload. The Pro plan offers you unlimited Padlets, as well as 250MB per upload. In addition, this plan comes at a low monthly price, with the option to pay yearly for a discounted rate.
Ready to make your first Padlet? By selecting the red “Make a Padlet” button on your dashboard, you can choose the exact type of board you wish to start with to best arrange your content. Each option includes a description of how your content can be laid out. You also have the option at this stage of creating a Backchannel where you can communicate with your students in a chat-like environment and add content to points on a map.
- Customize your padlet
After you’ve chosen a layout, you now have the option to completely customize your Padlet. Here’s where it really gets fun! Padlet gives you the option to add a title and description to your board, as well as choose your own wallpaper, color scheme, and font.
You can upload your own wallpaper, choose from Padlet’s library, or select a solid color, gradient, texture, or pattern. Here, you will also find your Padlet’s unique link, which can be easily shared by copying to your clipboard and sending through email, chat, or text.
If you scroll down on the same page, Padlet also gives you the option to customize Posting options and Content Filtering. Posting options allow you to control whether the author’s name should be displayed above each post, the post position, whether views can comment on posts, and whether you would like to implement reactions. Content filtering allows you to choose whether or not content requires your approval before posting, as well as the option to replace bad words with nice emojis!
- Start posting
Now that you’ve customized your first Padlet, you’re ready to start posting! Content may be posted by dragging files onto your Padlet board, double-clicking anywhere on the screen, or pressing the red plus button at the bottom of your screen.
From here, you can upload a file, enter an URL, search images, GIFs, YouTube or Spotify, or upload an image. By selecting the three dots in the lower right corner, you can also implement some of Padlet’s more advanced features, such as Padlet’s camera, voice recorder, screen recorder, and the ability to drop a location. You can then feel free to arrange your Padlet board in any way you want by simply clicking and dragging your content!
See you guys in the next blog. I hope you enjoy this blog. Keep smiling, stay positive, and Hidup Kena Chill. Bye!
